Edward “Ed” J. Lorenz, Sr., 91, a resident of Brookdale/Devonshire since 2010, formerly of Arlington Heights for 30 years, and originally from the Northside of Chicago, St. Ritas Parish, was born on August 30, 1924 in Chicago to the late Adam and the late Bertha (nee Stemler), and passed away peacefully August 2, 2016 in Hoffman Estates.

Ed was a proud to have served in the US Navy during WWII as a Machinist First Class aboard the USS Saratoga CV3. He was a master carpenter, specializing in trim-work both in commercial and residential settings, including working at the Ronald Reagan Library and “Toon Town” at Disneyland in California.

Ed was the adoring husband of the late Jean; loving father of Edward (Janice), Carole (Dennis) Christensen, Dolores (Thomas) McMahon and the late Linda; fond grandfather of Rachelle (Kori), Carrie, Janine, Kelly (Michael), Nicholas, Eric, Ryan and Melinda; proud great-grandfather of Blake, Logan and Maeven; dear brother of Elsie Miller, the late Leona Waindle and the late Cecelia Hansen; beloved uncle and friend to many, he will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ed’s name to the US Veteran’s Administration, , the Alzheimer’s Association, or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund.
