Elaine M Pekarek (née Johnson) of Schaumburg peacefully departed this world on August 12, 2017. She was 91 and was a long time resident of Des Plaines. She was known for her dedication to her family, her community, her church, and her many contributions of both service and support. She is peacefully reunited with her husband of 57 years, Robert, her parents Carolyn (Glassen) and Martin Johnson, and brothers Earl and Marvin Johnson.
Elaine graduated from Steinmetz High School in 1944. In her early life she was a seamstress for the House of Menna in Lincolnwood Illinois, and enjoyed dancing and the company of many close friends. She married her husband Bob in 1948 and became a devoted mother to four. She embarked on a career in real estate in 1971 and earned several awards for real estate sales with Wm L. Kunkel Realtors. She retired and in 2003 moved to Friendship Village. She shared hobbies that included quilting, crocheting, and scrap booking with many, good longtime friends, and contributed endless projects to her church, the local hospital and her community.
She was blessed with a large and loving family, and is survived by her brother Tom, children Karen (Paul) Klinger, Donald, Jeanne (William) Wolff, and James (Laura), grandchildren Jeffrey (Massiel) Klinger, Carrie (Scott) Logue, Layne Pekarek, Becky (Mike) Lally, Elise Pekarek, Kelly Pekarek, Kelsey (Ben) Kastner, Kristen Pekarek, Brandon (Katie) Wolff, Ross Pekarek, and 6 great grandchildren.
