James “Jim” P. Carney, 95, a resident of Friendship Village and formerly of Skokie was born on January 19, 1923 in Chicago to the late Martin and the late Mary (nee Hannon) and passed away peacefully July 11, 2018 at the VA North Chicago. Jim was a proud WWII US Army veteran serving as a Sergeant in the European Theater. He received a Purple Heart Medal during his participation in the Battle of the Bulge. He worked as a butcher for A&P Grocery Store for 40 years.

Jim was the adoring husband of 70 years to Florence (nee Kasper); loving father of Mary K. (Scott) Paulson; dear grandfather of Scott (Kelly) Paulson and Kelsey (William) Fuentes; proud great grandfather of Emma and Madison Fuentes; preceded in death by his 9 brothers and sisters, he was a beloved uncle to many. His family would like to extend a sincere “Thank You” to Mike Carney and his family for all your love and support. Dear friend to many, he will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jim’s name to the Veterans Administration -make checks payable to the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center and mail them to:
