Ritvars “Rick” Grinvalds, 88, a resident of Long Grove since 1990 and formerly of Franklin Park was born on January 27, 1929 in Liepaja, Latvia to the late Augusts and the late Marija (nee Dicmanis), and passed away peacefully on October 9, 2017 at his home in Long Grove surrounded by his loving family.
Ritvars was a proud US Army veteran stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He and his family escaped WWII in Europe and immigrated to the US in the early 1950’s. When he came to this country he began working as a dishwasher and ultimately became chief engineer for Mayfair Molded Products in Franklin Park, designing plastic molds. He enjoyed snow skiing, golf, chess and traveled the world with his loving wife Diana.
Ritvars was the adoring husband of 63 years to Diana (nee Vinters); loving father of Ray (Kristina), Anita (Steven) Drews and Ed (Sandy); proud grandfather of Larissa, Nick, Samantha, Alex, Matthew, Jackie and Nichol; dear friend to many. He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.
