Walter “Wally” J. Komperda, 75, a resident of Panama City Beach, FL and formerly of Schaumburg for 32 years was born on June 9, 1942 in Poland to the late John and the late Angela (nee Krozel). Wally lost his battle to cancer on September 3, 2017 at his home in Florida.

Wally was a carpenter/cabinet maker by trade. He took great pride in his work and felt tremendous satisfaction in a job well done. He developed a fascination with tools at a young age. If he had a tool he was unfamiliar with, he would research its purpose and function. He enjoyed fixing anything that was broken. Often, people would seek out his advice for a project or repair. Wally was happy to share his vast knowledge and was quick to offer a helping hand to his family and friends.

Wally was the adoring husband of 49 years to Sophia (nee Dlugopolska); loving father of Donna (Patrick) Gierke, Margaret (Milton) Mason, Christopher (Veronica) and Jack; proud grandfather of Amanda Gierke, Nicholas and Matthew Mason and Camilla; dear brother of the late Joseph (Mary); beloved uncle and friend to many. He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.
