Rita Mae Maday (nee Perry), 94, of Bartlett, Illinois entered heavenly rest June 6th, 2019. Born in Ionia, New York, she was the wife of the late Stephen Richard Maday Sr. for 50+ years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and children, having been a foster mother to over 100 children over 20 years.

Mother of Mark Thomas, Barbara(James)Beck, and Melissa(John)Sheldon, the late James Alan, the late Stephen Richard Jr. and the late Eileen Frances. She had 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Frederick (Fred) W. Bornkamp, born May 2, 1943, age 76, a longtime Rockford resident, passed away Saturday June 8, 2019, at Lexington of Schaumburg. Fred grew up in New Jersey and graduated from Hawthorn High School in 1961. He went on to attend Aurora (College) University in Aurora, IL, for undergraduate studies and received his Master’s Degree in Education from Springfield College in Springfield, MA. Fred began his career as a baseball and soccer coach at Aurora University before moving to the Stateline to teach and coach at Rockford (College) University. After a successful tenure with the “Regents,” Fred transitioned to the private sector and began working in Human Resources at Sundstrand (United Technologies) where he was employed for twenty years.

In retirement, Fred was instrumental in organizing his high school reunions as well as the AU Class of ’65 forty-fifth class reunion. He loved eating dinner at Lino’s, golfing at Sandy Hollow, and picking apples in the fall at Edward’s Orchard.

Gifted athlete, coach, umpire, AYSO Commissioner, Guilford High School Booster Club President – Fred spent many hours on both sides of the ball. It was his life’s passion.

He is survived by Joyce (Thompson) Bornkamp. Daughters: Suzanne (Ryan) McCoy and Amy Bornkamp. Son: Joel (Steffanie) Bornkamp. Grandchildren: Jack, Nick, and Luke McCoy. Mother: Anna Bornkamp. He was preceded in death by his father Frederick Bornkamp and his brother Bruce Bornkamp.

Fred’s family would like to thank the staff of Morningstar Village, Westbrook Senior Living, Lexington of Schaumburg, and Lexington Hospice for the compassion and care he received.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Lietzo, who was the love of her life. Robert John Basquin, a long time resident of Schaumburg, was born on October 10, 1938 to Gerald and Viola (nee Kruse) and passed away on May 2, 2019 in Elk Grove Village.

Robert was married to his loving wife of 39 years, the late Angelika Basquin. Robert has three children, Andrea Basquin, the late Candace (Ted) Wierbowski, and Noel Basquin. Robert has three loving granddaughters, Brittany (Joe) Klem, Ashley (Kevin) Moran, and Alicia Wierbowski.

Robert spent his life working for the Army Corps of Engineers and the Chicago Park District. He was a proud United States Army Veteran. He enjoyed fishing, and watching the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears play.

Robert is preceded in his death by his parents, his wife Angelika, his brother David Basquin, daughter Candace, and infant granddaughter Sofie Wierbowski.

Mrs. Janina Gambal, age 92, peacefully passed away Friday morning, May 3, 2019, at her home in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. She was born on May 12, 1927 in Losie, Poland. She spent her life in Losie growing up and later raising her three children in Karpacz, Poland. She immigrated to the United States in 1981 where she remained until her passing.

Janina was the wife of the late Jan Gambal. Devoted mother to Ann Byskosh (Steve Byskosh), Danuta Gambal, and the late Jerzy Gambal (Jolanta Gambal). She was a proud and very dedicated grandmother to Joanna Shostachuk, Peter Byskosh, Paul Gambal, and Anna Gambal. She was also a wonderful great-grandmother to Sofia Shostachuk, Andrew Shostachuk, Aiden Gambal, Ellie Gambal, Skyler McRae, and Lily McRae.

Janina was a loving, genuine, and hard-working woman, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was known for her kind nature, love of family, dedication to God, support of her Ukrainian and American roots, passion for Wheel of Fortune, and her amazing cooking. She always welcomed visitors and had plenty of tasty food to share.
Janina, her wisdom, patience, and unconditional love, will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

“For everything, there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven; a time to be born, and a time to die, a time to plant, and a time to pluck what is wanted.” It was Janina’s time. Knowing her, she would want us to remember that people are plucked from this earth, new seeds are planted, and new flowers are forever blossoming.”
