Edna M. Miller-Delzell, 85, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2017 at her son’s home in Lakemoor, Illinois. She was born on August 18, 1931 to the late John and the late Edna (nee Steers) Platt in Staten Island, NY, where she grew up with her dear sister Cecelia (John) Schaefer. She was the adoring wife of 48 years to Edward J. Miller until his death in September 2000, and later to Sterling Delzell, with whom she was married for one year until his death in September 2013. Sterling and Edna were both residents of Friendship Village for 7 years.

Edna (and Ed), longtime residents of Warrenville, IL, were loving parents to Edward (Barbara), Donna (Mark) Liszka, the late William (Mary), Robert, Daniel (Diana), James (Kym), John, Teresa (Glenn) Lamz, and Matthew; fond grandmother of Zachary, Gregory, Kevin, David, Brian, Michael, Jake, Ben, Megan, Dustin, Aaron, Alyssa, Susie, Michelle, Kristen, Carolyn, Josh, Jessica, Kylie, Krystal, Boaz, Sara, Jack, Jenny, Glenn and Michael; and proud great grandmother of Reagan, Brooks, Olivia, Evelyn and Wilhelmina. Edna (Sterling) was a loving step-grandmother to Will, Ben, and Molly Cain.

Edna worked as a nursing assistant in the Central DuPage Hospital nursery, dental assistant, art teacher, and technical associate at AT&T Bell Labs. She was a proud member of St. Irene’s Council of Catholic Women, K of C Ladies Auxiliary and Bell Labs Pioneers. Her passions included travel, Irish music, and living a faithful life. Her greatest joy was being with family.

Gerald “Jerry” A. Lenza, 57, a resident of St. Charles was born on September 16, 1959 in Oak Lawn to the late Gerald L. Lenza and Ann Marie (Stanley Krys) DiGioia-Krys, and passed away on January 9, 2017 in St. Charles. He was an avid fisherman and he loved to cook.

Jerry was the adoring husband of 6 years to Melissa (nee Haines); loving father of Jerry (Kelly), Joe, Angela and Alyce Lenza, Ryan (Kahina) Browning and Justin (Emily) Browning; fond grandfather of Ivy Lenza and Lorraine Browning; dear brother of Gary (Melanie), Lawrence, Laura and Donald, Michael (Kahrin) Digioia, Jack (Sarah) Haines, beloved uncle and dear friend of many. Richard “Dick” E. Chodor, 81, a resident of Elk Grove Village for 10 years, was born on May 12, 1935 in Chicago to the late Edward and the late Helene (nee Palilunas) Chodorowski, and passed away peacefully on January 6, 2017 in Glendale Heights.

Dick was proud to have served in the US Navy based in Okinawa, Japan. He was a Past Grand Knight from 1980-1981 and Life Member for Knights of Columbus Council #6964 Hoffman-Schaumburg. He was also a founding member and Past Grand Knight for Knights of Columbus Council #12282 based at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary in Albuquerque, NM. He loved reading, traveling, music, photography, smoking cigars and was an avid White Sox and Bears fan.

Dick was the adoring husband of 41 years to the late Margaret (nee Tejeda); loving father of Rita Elena; dear brother of Mary Lynn (the late Barry) Balthrop and the late Elizabeth Ann (Jerome) Kolpa; beloved uncle of 7; great uncle of 8; great-great uncle of 1; fond godfather of Kathy (Steve) Bernard, Jeffrey Balthrop and the late Robert Grabinski; dear friend to many.

William “Bill” A. Schnepel, 96, a resident of Schaumburg for 10 years and formerly of the Northwest Side of Chicago was born on October 21, 1920 in Germany to the late Karl Arthur and the late Maria (nee Wittmaak) and passed away peacefully on January 6, 2017 in Elk Grove.

Bill was a proud US Army Veteran serving in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He was an avid camper and particularly enjoyed camping trips out at Devils Lake, WI, so much so that he even spent his honeymoon at Devils Lake. He was also widely considered an “Expert” LEGO builder.

Bill was the adoring husband of 66 years to the late Marjorie (nee Blankenmeister); loving father of Mary Ellen (John) Schiffer, Cathy (Tom) Smith; Peg (Bill) Long, Carol (the late Dennis) Blondell, Bill (Loretta) and Linda (Jeff) Kent; fond grandfather of 21, dear great grandfather of 21; proud great-great grandfather of 4; dear friend to many. He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.

Lawrence (nee Johnson), 94, a resident of Hoffman Estates for 11 years and formerly of Monticello, New York was born on July 6, 1922 in Jamaica, West Indies, to the late Miriam Johnson and the late Uriah Johnson, and passed away on December 29, 2016 at her daughter’s home. Susan loved to cook, especially Jamaican cuisine, and was an avid fan of the Wheel of Fortune or as she called it, the “Money Show”. You could always hear her singing Calypso, Jamaican and church songs. She enjoyed travelling the country with her son-in-law and daughter to places like Connecticut and Philadelphia.
