Matylda M. Gurak, (nee Krzeczowski), 98, a resident of Schaumburg for 20 years and formerly of the Brickyard neighborhood of Chicago was born on July 26, 1919 in Poland to the late Jozef and the late Wiktoria (nee Krawczyk) she passed away suddenly on October 20, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Family and prayer meant the world to Matylda.

She was the adoring wife of 36 years to the late Stanislaw; loving mother of Krystyna (Leszek) Doniec, Stanley (Danuta), Edward (Sophie), Lillian Purta, the late Julia (Stanley) Luberda, Frank (Grace), the late Lester (Diana), the late Stefan (Suzanne) and the late Bogdan; fond grandmother of 19; beloved great-grandmother of 34 and proud great-great-grandmother of 6; dear sister of 6, she is survived by Wladyslawa Kowalski and Emilia Nicpon; fond aunt and friend to many. She will be missed by all those whose lives she touched.

John A. LoGuidice, 89, a resident of Schaumburg since 1975 and formerly of the Northwest Side of Chicago, was born on May 27, 1928 in Chicago to the late Salvatore and the late Rosaria (nee Pollicino), and passed away peacefully on October 14, 2017 in Elk Grove Village surrounded by his loving family. John was a US Army Veteran who proudly served during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed gardening and working on his yard and was a Chicago White Sox fan.

John was the adoring husband of 64 years to Helen (nee LaMantia); loving father of Vickie, James (Wanda) and Linda (Ed) Crockett; fond grandfather of Lisa (John) Bollinger, Erica (Chris) Cann, James (Samantha), John Darovec, Anthony Darovec, Zachary (Vivian) Crockett, Matthew Crockett and Stephen Crockett; proud great-grandfather of Madison and John Bollinger, Sophia and Henry Cann and Jayden and Taryn LoGuidice; dear friend to many. He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.

Mary F. Gramarossa (nee Huttner), 75, a resident of Hoffman Estates and formerly of Mount Prospect for 20 years, was born on January 5, 1942 in Chicago, and passed away peacefully on October 11, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Mary was the adoring wife of 47 years to the late Vincent; loving mother of Kirk (Lisa) and Andrew; fond grandmother of Xander, Hayden, Venyce, Jessica and Elaina; dear sister of Teri (Victor) Giometi, Edward, Jr. and the late Judy (Robert) Terracina; beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. Dear friend to many. She will be missed by all those whose lives she touched.

Ritvars “Rick” Grinvalds, 88, a resident of Long Grove since 1990 and formerly of Franklin Park was born on January 27, 1929 in Liepaja, Latvia to the late Augusts and the late Marija (nee Dicmanis), and passed away peacefully on October 9, 2017 at his home in Long Grove surrounded by his loving family.

Ritvars was a proud US Army veteran stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He and his family escaped WWII in Europe and immigrated to the US in the early 1950’s. When he came to this country he began working as a dishwasher and ultimately became chief engineer for Mayfair Molded Products in Franklin Park, designing plastic molds. He enjoyed snow skiing, golf, chess and traveled the world with his loving wife Diana.

Ritvars was the adoring husband of 63 years to Diana (nee Vinters); loving father of Ray (Kristina), Anita (Steven) Drews and Ed (Sandy); proud grandfather of Larissa, Nick, Samantha, Alex, Matthew, Jackie and Nichol; dear friend to many. He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.

Gerald “Jerry” Kenneth Ahrens, 81, a resident of Schaumburg for 49 years and formerly of Mundelein for 10 years and Iowa City, Iowa, was born on November 28, 1935 in Boone, IA to the late Elmer and the late Ruth (nee Hughes) and passed away peacefully on October 6, 2017 at his home in Schaumburg surrounded by his loving family. Jerry proudly served in the US Army Signal Corps from 1954-1959. He earned a B.A. from the University of Iowa in 1961 and later a CPCU designation in 1984.

Jerry was the adoring husband of 59 years to Anne (nee Podolak); loving father of Sean (Heather); proud grandfather of Ashley and Tyler; dear brother of Douglas Franklin; fond uncle and friend to many, he was kind until the day he passed. He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.
