Henry “Bud” C. Mullen, a resident of Marengo since 1999 and formerly of Schaumburg for 38 years was born on December 23, 1924 in Chicago to the late John and the late Joanna (nee Corcoran), and passed away peacefully on April 8, 2017 in Hoffman Estates.
Bud was proud to have served as a Fireman First Class in the US Coast Guard during WWII. He was stationed mostly off the Virginia coast and spent some time on President Franklin Roosevelt’s personal yacht during that period. He was a member of Schaumburg’s volunteer Fire Department, ultimately becoming the Department’s 2nd Volunteer Fire Chief in 1971. He loved owning and raising horses and stabled his first horses at the Mansfield’s Farm on Roselle Rd. in Schaumburg during the late 1960’s.
Bud was the adoring husband of 69 years to Harriet (nee Schnell); loving father of Kimberlee Rouse; last surviving brother of John, Margaret Snowden, Mona O’Reilly and Eileen Condon; fond uncle and dear friend to many. He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched, including his dog “Brella” and his horses “Hank” and “Hondo”.
