Theresa Mistretta (nee Luporini), 94, a resident of Schaumburg for 9 years and formerly of Chicago was born on December 27, 1922 in Santa Margherita, Italy to the late Daniel and the late Isola (nee Galli) and passed away peacefully on January 5, 2017 in Elk Grove.

Theresa was the adoring wife of 65 years to the late Chester; dear sister of Loretta (the late Vincent) Ciampi and Frank (Virginia) Luporini; fond aunt of and great-aunt of many nieces and nephews, friend to many. She and her husband Chester were proud owners of The Little Flower Shoppe in Chicago. She will be missed by all those whose lives she touched.

John “Jack” S. Nielsen Sr., 84, a resident of Schaumburg for many years and formerly of Chicago, was born on November 3, 1932 in Chicago to the late Arthur and the late Clara (nee Rasmussen), and passed away peacefully on January 1, 2017 in Elk Grove Village with his loving family by his side.

John was the adoring husband of 54 years to the late Lillian “Chris” (nee Potempa); loving father of John (Susan), Tom (Dawn), Ron (Annemarie), Lory (Mark) Rees and the late Timothy “Timmy”; beloved grandfather of Missy, Tom Jr., Shannon and Nick, Michael and Lita; proud great-grandfather of 5; dear brother of Doug; friend to many, he will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.

Susan F. Lawrence (nee Johnson), 94, a resident of Hoffman Estates for 11 years and formerly of Monticello, New York was born on July 6, 1922 in Jamaica, West Indies, to the late Miriam Johnson and the late Uriah Johnson, and passed away on December 29, 2016 at her daughter’s home. Susan loved to cook, especially Jamaican cuisine, and was an avid fan of the Wheel of Fortune or as she called it, the “Money Show”. You could always hear her singing Calypso, Jamaican and church songs. She enjoyed travelling the country with her son-in-law and daughter to places like Connecticut and Philadelphia.

Susan was the adoring wife of the late Balfore Lawrence; loving mother of Novlyn Smith, Daphne (Owen) Thompson, Jean (Dudley) Ferguson and Fay (John) Cobb; proud grandmother of Omar Ferguson, Denise Ferguson, Dionne Ferguson, Sheryl Nichols, Craig Cobb, Sophia Lewis-Kimmey, Roy Smith, Errol Wright, Maurice Smith, Lester Smith, Sylvan Smith, Michelle Marsh, Camille Wright and Berris Smith; dear sister of the late David Johnson, the late Richard Johnson, the late Charlie Johnson, the late Johnathan Johnson and the late Marian Johnson; friend to many. She will be missed by all those whose lives she touched.

Frank B. Cannataro, 46, a resident of Schaumburg for 14 years and formerly of Chicago was born on May 4, 1970 in Chicago to Frank and Georgianne (nee Wolski), and passed away peacefully on December 17, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.

His family meant the world to him and he especially loved spending time with all his children. He was an avid Chicago White Sox fan and very proud “Dance Dad” to his daughters Brianne and Annalyse and all of the Jagged Edge Dance Co.

Frank was the adoring husband of 14 years to Carrie (nee Wendland); loving father of Katie, Lauren, Brianne and Annalyse; fond grandfather of Emma and Connor; dear brother of Laura; beloved nephew to Aunt JoAnn and several aunts and uncles; fond uncle to many nieces and nephews; “Cuz’s” to many and a dear friend, he will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.

Walter “Bud” Ostrand, Jr., 91, a resident of Friendship Village for 9 years and formerly of Rolling Meadows, IL was born on March 12, 1925 in Chicago to the late Walter and Violet (nee Swenson), and passed away peacefully on December 14, 2016 in Elk Grove surrounded by his loving family.

Bud was a proud WWII US Navy veteran and worked as an insurance sales manager for Lincoln Life and Washington National Life Insurance Companies. He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and the Shriners and was an avid golfer with a membership at Medinah Country Club.

Bud was the adoring husband of 65 years to Lois (nee Manny) whom he met at Iowa State University; loving father of Christine (Bradford) Price, Sherrie (Michael) Magnini and Mark; fond grandfather of Grant (Allison) Price, Justin (Ann) Magnini, Evan (Heather) Price, Philip Magnini, Logan Price and Tim (Ashley Scollard) Magnini; proud great grandfather of Finn Price, Sophia Magnini and Penelope and Owen Price. A dear friend to many, he will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.
