Neal Joseph Dean, 92, a resident of Elk Grove Village since 1998 and formerly of Northfield for 35 years was born on October 1, 1923 in Troy, NY to the late Frederick and the late Catherine (nee Roarke), and passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family on July 28, 2016 in Elk Grove Village.

Neal received his BEE degree from Manhattan College in 1944, MS degree from Columbia University in 1946 and went on to pursue Ph.D. studies at both MIT and Harvard University. In 1952 he married the former Margaret (Peggi) Mary McGuirk.

After teaching Electrical Engineering at Columbia for several years, Neal went on to a successful career in international business consulting first with Booz, Allen & Hamilton and later on his own. Throughout his life Neal travelled the world at first for business, later volunteering for the International Executive Service Corp and in his later years became an ardent cruise line aficionado.

Always a brilliant, quirky man and a keen observer of cultures, Neal was a much appreciated meal and travel companion for friends and family. A lover of music, history and film he was a fixture in his local library until his final days.

Neal is survived by daughter Patrice (Dr. Edward) Diamond, daughter Stephanie (Thomas) Liles and son Brian; fond grandfather of Jennifer (AJ) Acosta, Laura Diamond, Steven Liles and Madison and Charles; dear brother of the late Marion Kelly and Virigina Waffner. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Peggy Mary (nee McGuirk) in 1998.

Lawrence “Larry” J. Ehardt, 76, a resident of Glenview since 1972 was born on December 9, 1940 in Chicago to the late George and the late June (nee Sullivan), and passed away suddenly on July 26 in the intensive care unit of Northshore Skokie Hospital. Larry was a proud US Marine veteran. He was an avid golfer and sports fan, he loved watching football, golf and all college sports.

Larry was the adoring husband of 46 years to Anita Alicia (nee Ampuero); loving father of Robert L; proud grandfather of Analorel, Robert, Jr., Heather and Peter; dear brother; fond uncle, friend and neighbor to many, he will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.

John “Sonny” E. Lechowicz, Jr., 73, a resident of Glendale Heights for 10 years and formerly of the East Village Neighborhood of Chicago, was born on May 20, 1943 in Chicago to the late John and the late Helen (nee Tomasciewicz), and passed away peacefully on July 23, 2016 in Bloomingdale.

Sonny was a proud 25 year US Marine Corps veteran, serving 3 tours of duty during the Vietnam War, earning a Purple Heart and retiring as a Master Sergeant. He was the loving father of Christine; husband of 10 years to Roberta; dear brother of Tina Gradowski; fond brother of the late Mary Ann Mitchell and loving uncle, trusted friend and mentor to Mitch. He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.

John “Jack” L. Frontier Jr., 85, a resident of Schaumburg was born on October 25, 1930 in Chicago, to the late John L. Frontier Sr. and the late Irma (Nee Depilla) and passed away peacefully on July 7, 2016 at his home.

John was the loving husband of the late Carol (nee Oftedahl); adoring father of Gary Frontier and Jane (Kevin) Twomey; cherished Papa of Mackenzie Twomey; dear brother of Gloria (the late Ed) Keane, the late Al (the late Joy) and the late Dominic “Mim” (the Late Lil) Frontier; beloved uncle of Phil (Delaine), Michael (Anne), Tim (Mary), the late Bob, Jimmy (Kathi), Monica (Mike), Pat (David) and Mary; fond cousin and friend to many. John enjoyed golfing, gardening, cooking and watching sports. He also loved eating breakfast with his son, daughter and granddaughter on occasions. He is an Army Veteran who proudly served in the Korean War.

Peggy A. Markko, 86 (nee Demas), a resident of East Dundee since 1995 and formerly of Hoffman Estates for 19 years
was born on February 9, 1930 in San Antonio, TX to the late Sam and the late Fanny (nee Garcia), and passed away peacefully on June 21, 2016 at her home with her loving family by her side.

She loved watching her favorite television shows “Magnum P.I.” and “Renegade” and also enjoyed having her “Manhattans”, her favorite cocktail.

Peggy was the adoring wife of 49 years to the late George; loving sister to many. She was a wonderful aunt who loved and doted over all her nieces and nephews. She was the most selfless, strong and generous person and was always someone to rely and count on. She loved her dogs, “Moxie”, “Mopps”, and“Lady” and sometimes loved her cats “Maggie” and Catrina.
