John “Jack” Ritchie, a longtime resident of Schaumburg, passed away at the West Suburban Nursing Facility, on Saturday, January 20th at age 85.

Jack had a varied career, culminating in a long status as painter at the Four Seasons Hotel of Chicago, often deployed in their “swat team” to assist in other hotels throughout the world. An outstanding athlete at Senn High School, Jack had hopes of playing professional baseball, but the call to duty in the Korean War disrupted his plans. He continued active in later years in numerous youth sporting activities.

Jack is survived by his daughter, Karen; sons, Glenn and Jim; and former wife, Phyllis Ritchie.

Gilbert W. Willey, Jr., 77, a long term resident of Arlington Heights was born on January 27, 1940 in Fox River Grove to the late Gilbert, Sr. and the late Marie (nee McGraw), and passed away peacefully on January 5, 2017 in Oak Lawn with his loving wife at his side.

Gilbert loved Astronomy and photography. Gilbert would talk with such joy about when he used to run the light show at the Adler Planetarium. He was a real “handy man”, like his father before him, and loved to help people with all types of projects to the point where it seemed there was nothing he couldn’t do. Gilbert was an Optical Engineer at Recon Optical in Barrington. Gilbert, who earned a Master of Science Degree in Mathematics, earned many awards and patents for his work in Optical Engineering. He was a member of the Optical Engineering Society and a member of the Good Templars in Geneva, Illinois.

Gilbert was the adoring husband of 22 years to Janet (nee Pearson) and previously to Elaine (nee Wanic); loving father to Mark (Melissa), Lauren, Jennifer (Gary), and Keven; loving Stepfather to Thomas, Bob, and Janet (Matt). Loving Grandfather to Kerry, Perry, Quin, Emma, Nick, Tom, Victoria, Briana, Oliva, Alexa. Loving Great Grandfather to Joshua, Blake, Luke. Beloved godson to Rosemary McGraw; dear friend to many. Loretta J. Wiktor (nee Pydek), 96, a resident of South Elgin since 2012 and longtime resident of the NW Side of Chicago and Schaumburg was born on October 24, 1921 in Chicago to the late Michael and the late Joanne (nee Adamczyk) and passed away peacefully on January 8, 2018 in Hoffman Estates with her loving daughter by her side. Loretta was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Cubs, Bears, Blackhawks and Notre Dame. She loved spending time with her 6 grandchildren and 16 “perfect” great-grandchildren.

Loretta was the adoring wife of 28 years to the late Joseph, Sr.; loving mother of Patricia (Frank) Rzeszutko and the late Joseph, Jr. (Ramona); fond grandmother of 6; proud great-grandmother of 16; dear sister of 3, she is preceded by Mary Drugon, John Pydek and Helen Krause; beloved aunt and great aunt; dear friend to many. She will be missed by all those whose lives she touched.

Donavan R. Finley, 34, a resident of Hoffman Estates, was born and raised in “K Town” Chicago on September 20, 1983 to Walter and Elaine (nee Davis), and passed away peacefully on January 6, 2018 in Oak Lawn. Donavan played offensive tackle (#70) for Dunbar Vocational High School in Chicago. He was a professional “gamer” and particularly excelled at football. He was a pharmaceutical technician at South Shore Hospital in Chicago then later worked in the Receiving Department at Home Depot in Chicago. He was the ultimate “jokester” and loved to make people laugh.

Donavan was engaged to Shannel Franklin, the mother of his 3 cherished children, Madison, Amora and Kaydon; fond brother of Stacy, Walter, Jr. (Sheree) and Erick and Derick; beloved uncle to Shaun; dear friend to many. He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.

Marks, a resident of Schaumburg for 15 years and formerly of Portage Park in Chicago was born on January 24, 1927 in Chicago to the late John and the late Frances (nee Kalita), and passed away peacefully on January 8, 2018 at her home in Schaumburg with her loving family by her side. Evelyn enjoyed playing BINGO and visiting the casino, where she especially loved playing the slot machines. She loved and enjoyed her family very much.

It is with great sadness that the family of Dr. Michael J. Zak announces his passing on to Eternal Glory on Friday, December 29, 2017, at the age of 56 years. Mike will be lovingly remembered by his two daughters Sierra and Marissa, as well as his former wife Lisa and girlfriend Margaret. Mike is also survived by his parents David and Mary Ann Zak and his siblings Richard, Cheryl (Cliff), Mark, and Tom (Anna). Mike joins his daughter Allison, who preceded him in 2012.

A respected and accomplished member of his profession, Mike was a partner with The Associates for Oral, Maxillofacial, and Implant Surgery. Outside private practice, Mike served as Diplomate and Examiner for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, past President of the Illinois Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and past President of the Polish Dental Arts Society. Mike’s charity work included donating his talents to those less fortunate both domestically and abroad through the Illinois Mission of Mercy and Health Volunteers Overseas. In his personal time, Mike was an avid triathlete who also loved skiing, snowboarding and his time in the kitchen, to everyone’s benefit.

Myron P. Bergstrom, 42, was born on August 18, 1975 in Superior, WI, and passed away December 16, 2017 in Reno Nevada. In Reno, Myron pursued his education and career as a union electrician. He was instrumental in accomplishing many large building projects in and around the Reno area. Myron loved racing motorcycles at Nevada and California speedways, where he spent time with his “Racing Family” and had many special friends.

Myron was the adoring father of Melody and Sidney; loving son to his parents Julie and John Swieca and Patrick and Barbara Bergstrom; dear brother of Angela and Howard Ohren, Nicole and Oscar Ramirez, Patrick, April and Corey Bergstrom; preceded by loving grandparents Armand and Kay Lucas and Myron and Nancy Bergstrom; beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews; dear friend to many. He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.

Ellwood Gustav Stolle, Jr. was born on January 27, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Ellwood, Sr. and the late Ella (nee Straub) and passed away on December 12, 2017 at his home in Schaumburg.

Beloved husband to Maureen L. Stolle (nee Mittelbrun) for 51 years. He also leaves behind two daughters Vicki Grace (nee Stolle) and Brenda Stolle. Grandfather to Diana Halloway (nee Grace) and Heather Bzdon. Brother to Georgianna Way (nee Stolle). Beloved uncle to many.

He served In the United States Army for two year, the Philadelphia Police Department for 2 years until moving to Chicago in 1966 to marry Maureen. He joined the Chicago Police Department in 1966 and served for 33 years, retiring in 1999.
