Mildred “Sissy” (Fornear) Cook passed away on December 30, 2019 at her home in Schaumburg, IL. She died of the heart problems that had persisted in the latter years of her life. She was surrounded by loving family and friends in her final moments.

Mildred’s parents, Donald and Mildred Fornear, were happy and proud to bring “Sissy” into the world. Mildred was raised in Pittsburgh’s Brookline area, in the South Hills section of Pittsburgh, PA., where she attended Resurrection Grade School and South Hills High School. After WWII, she married her soldier boy David Cook and together they embarked on a full life of love and home. David’s employment demands brought several moves about the country, where they were blessed with six children: David & Sheryl in Pittsburgh, Sharon in St. Louis, Paul in Detroit, and finally, Sheila and Melissa in Elk Grove Village, Il. Unfortunately, Milli lost daughter Sheryl on October 1, 2016.

Moving to Elk Grove Village, Il. In December of 1958, Milli and Dave quickly became active in the very early formative years of Elk Grove Village. The PTA, the Women’s Club, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, and Dave’s thirty years on the Elk Grove Village Zoning Board of Appeals were among their affiliations.

Milli was a retiree of the Marshall Field’s Woodfield Mall retail store where she worked from the store’s opening for twenty three years. As a full time mom, she worked at other jobs as time allowed. David worked most of his years at Central Can Company of Chicago until their retirement in 1992 when they moved to Fairfield Bay, Arkansas. While in Arkansas they enjoyed a much more leisurely life style of golf, a beautiful lake, wonderful new friends, and a warmer climate. Following her beloved husband David’s death in 2000, Milli moved back to Chicagoland to be closer to her family

Milli was blessed with six siblings and is survived by brother Brian (Sue) and sister Janet (Andy) Kirk. She was preceded in passing by brothers Donald (Rosemary), Robert (Elizabeth), Paul (Mary), Richard (Ruth Jean). Milli was the cherished aunt to twenty three nephews and nieces.
