Duane Robert Conwell, a resident of Elk Grove Village since 1965 and formeraly Des Plaines was born on March 24, 1929 to Clay and Esther in Wayne County, Indiana and passed away peacefully January 1, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving children.

Duane was the adoring husband of 50 years to Betty (nee Wacker); loving father of Esther, Elizabeth (David) Kramer, Becky (Steve) Zimmerman, Matthew (Christine) and Duane; dear grandfather of Olivia, Maura, Sam and Erin Zimmerman, Jonathan, Ryan, Lucas and Alex Conwell, Emily Kramer; fond brother-in-law of Shirley and Dennis Ross and beloved uncle of many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Alexian Brothers Hospice.

Duane was proud to have served as a Staff Sergeant in the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from Northwestern University and was a 47 year resident of Elk Grove Village. He met Betty at Kleinschmidts in 1959 and they wed in 1960. He later worked for AC Davenport and finished his career at the age of 76 at Carstens Health Industries after 25 years. Upon his retirement, he became an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He also enjoyed visiting his farm in Harvard.
