Juergen Alfred "Poker" Moritz, 73, a resident of Schaumburg for 31 years and formerly of Roselle, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Juergen was born Aug. 24, 1938, in Berlin, Germany to the late Johann and the late Hedwig.   In the mid 1960's, he made his courageous journey to the US in search of work as a tool maker by trade, settling in the Midwest.  He was an avid fisherman and skier, with friends around the world.

Poker and his cherished bride, Baerbel, were sweethearts and shared a uniquely playful and loving relationship throughout their 51 years of marriage.  As "Papa" to his boys Glenn and Gregg, he diligently inspired a hard, integrity based work ethic.  He was the dear brother of the late Hansa of Roselle and a friend to many others.

Jeurgen possessed a sweet ability to make friends anywhere in the world.  Known for his eternal skepticism, Jeurgen was "always right", never short of words to share.  His smile, kind heart and the love of his beer and cigars will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.

Memorials may be made in Jeurgen's name to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.
