<p>Michaels attended a Senior event on Tuesday, April 29 held at the Schaumburg Library and given by the Schaumburg Police Department on the topic of scams aimed at seniors. <br /><br /> Approximately 80 seniors attended a 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. session with a repeat of the presentation in the evening from 6:30 to 8:00 which 45 people attended. <br /><br /> Before the presentation, seniors were invited to visit the display tables to pick up information from participating health care groups, nursing homes, in-home care, Costco, Michaels Funeral Home and Alexian Bros. Medical Center to name a few. Free coffee and refreshments were served. <br /><br /> The slide presentation was given by two Schaumburg Police Department detectives: Detective Art Kwiatkowski and Detective Chris Nowicki and consisted of how scammers gain access to your home, how they obtain information from your computer and smart phone, and how they steal from your mailbox. Additional information was given as to how you can protect yourself from scammers. This was an excellent informative program. Questions were invited at the end of the presentation and afterwards, door prizes were given out. <br /><br /> Michaels was proud to participate in this worthwhile event.</p>
